How Auto Clock-Out Works
You set a grace period — the number of hours after the standard shift end time before Vynta automatically clocks the technician out. Example:- Standard shift: 08:00 to 17:00
- Grace period: 2 hours
- Auto clock-out triggers at: 19:00
Setting Up Auto Clock-Out
1
Go to Settings > Time & Attendance
Find the Auto Clock-Out section.
2
Set the grace period
Choose how many hours after shift end the auto clock-out should trigger. The default is 2 hours.
3
Configure notification
Optionally, enable a notification to the technician 15 minutes before auto clock-out, giving them a chance to clock out manually.
What Happens at Auto Clock-Out
- Vynta checks all currently clocked-in technicians
- For each technician past the grace period, it records a clock-out at the grace period deadline
- The timesheet entry is flagged as auto clocked out
- An admin notification appears in the Needs Attention panel
- The technician can request a correction if they were actually still working
Why It Matters
- Payroll accuracy — no phantom overtime from forgotten clock-outs
- Compliance — ensures shift records are complete
- Audit trail — every auto clock-out is logged and reviewable
Auto clock-out is a safety net, not a replacement for proper clock-out discipline. Use it alongside regular reminders to your team.
