Knowing who’s on-site and who isn’t is fundamental to dispatching. Vynta’s clock in/out system tracks technician attendance with GPS verification, so you always know who’s available.

How Clock In/Out Works

Technicians clock in at the start of their shift and clock out at the end. Each entry records:
  • Timestamp — exact time of the punch
  • Location — GPS coordinates at the time of clock in/out
  • Shift type — regular, overtime, or on-call
  • Break logging — start and end times for breaks

Clocking In

Technicians can clock in from:
  • The mobile app — tap the clock in button on the home screen
  • The dashboard — click the clock icon in the header
  • A kiosk — if you have a shared device at the office
When clocked in, the technician’s status changes to “On shift” and they appear in the Who’s In panel on the dashboard.

Clocking Out

At the end of the shift, the technician taps clock out. Vynta calculates:
  • Total hours worked
  • Break duration
  • Net shift time
  • Any overtime (if the shift exceeded standard hours)

Break Tracking

Technicians can log breaks during their shift:
  1. Tap Start Break — the timer begins
  2. Tap End Break — the timer stops
  3. Break time is deducted from total shift hours

GPS Verification

Every clock in and out records the device’s GPS location. This helps:
  • Verify that technicians are on-site when they claim to be
  • Resolve disputes about shift times
  • Track travel time between jobs
GPS tracking is enabled by default. You can disable it in Settings > Time & Attendance if your team prefers not to share location data.

FAQ

An admin can manually add a clock in entry from the Timesheets page. The technician can also request a correction, which requires admin approval.
Yes, but only one active clock in is allowed at a time. If they clock in on a second device, the first entry is automatically ended.
The mobile app queues clock in/out entries when offline and syncs them when connectivity returns. The timestamp uses the device time, not the sync time.
