Why Use BOMs
- Consistency: Every HVAC install gets the same parts, every time
- Speed: Technicians don’t have to remember which parts are needed
- Accuracy: Reduces the chance of missing parts or billing the wrong items
- Costing: Pre-set costs mean accurate job estimates from the start
Creating a BOM
1
Go to Inventory > BOM
Click Add BOM and give it a name (e.g., “Standard HVAC Install”).
2
Add parts with quantities
Search your parts catalogue and add each part with the standard quantity needed for this job type.
3
Link to job categories
Associate the BOM with specific work order categories. When a job of that category is created, the BOM is suggested automatically.
Using BOMs on Work Orders
When creating or editing a work order, click Add from BOM to pre-fill the parts list. You can still adjust quantities or add extra parts as needed.FAQ
